Reproductive experts cite genetic abnormalities as one of the predominant causes of infertility. Egg and sperm pathologies, genetic abnormalities in embryos – the list includes a plenty of parameters.
The list of factors provoking the occurrence of spontaneous mutations and other genetic factors of infertility can be made by:
- unfavorable environmental conditions;
- consequences of man-made disasters (for example, an explosion at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant);
- hereditary diseases;
- bad habits.
In order to timely identify genetic abnormalities, at the stage of preparation for conception, it is recommended to undergo a specific diagnosis, or to carry out pre-implantation diagnosis of the embryo.
MILITTA collaborates with the best clinics and laboratories, referring its clients to the best specialists. Selection of diagnostic programs, an integrated approach, a detailed diagnostic conclusion: we work according to an algorithm that ensures successful treatment of infertility.
What researches are carried out by the embryological laboratory of fertility
All types of tests are available at MILITTA partner laboratories to identify genetic abnormalities that cause infertility:
- spermogram with the definition of “normal” and “abnormal” sperm;
- study of the karyotype (chromosome set of eggs);
- examination of patients for the carriage of genetic diseases;
- determination of the karyotype (chromosome set) in patients with infertility (detection of Shereshevsky-Turner syndrome, Klinefelter, monosomy and other aberrations).
The laboratories also carry out pre-implantation genetic diagnosis of embryos (pgd screening). The technique helps to reliably assess the state of the embryo, to identify mutations incompatible with life that can lead to miscarriage or antenatal fetal death.
Diagnostics cost
The cost of examinations depends on:
- the selected program (basic, extended);
- volume and type of diagnostic material;
- the need for extended intervention (for example, sending material for diagnostic assessment to foreign partner clinics).
The total cost of the program is individual for each clinical case, but you can preliminarily discuss all issues related to the cost at a meeting with a MILITTA agency consultant.
