Oocyte cryopreservation is a common practice in reproductive medicine. In Europe and the United States, many women use the services of reproductive cryobanks and freeze their eggs. This procedure is easy to carry out, safe for a woman and does not affect the quality of the eggs in any way. A woman can freeze her eggs indefinitely, returning to the issue of motherhood when she wants to, or when circumstances permit (for example, after undergoing aggressive treatment). Egg cryopreservation with subsequent donation (for use in an IVF program or surrogacy protocols) is also a common practice. You can clarify the details of participation in any of the programs with a consultant.
MILITTA IVF Agency cooperates with the largest laboratories and reproductive cryobanks in Kyiv. The best specialists work with our clients and donors, who select individual protocols for stimulating ovulation, carry out the egg collection procedure as delicately as possible and are in touch 24/7.
Cryo egg: why it is important to freeze now
The set of genes and chromosomes in oocytes does not change throughout their entire existence (i.e., from the moment of embryonic laying). This means that with age, accumulated mutations, the effect of unfavorable environmental factors, the effect of radiation, irreversibly damage the genetic material of the egg. In turn, this will lead to a high risk of developing fetal malformations (Down syndrome, developmental anomalies, malformations of internal organs) or even a miscarriage.
According to the International Association of Reproductology and Clinical Genetics, the conditional “line” of the egg’s genetic norm is at the turn of 35 years. It was statistically verified that the level of fetal anomalies increases proportionally after a woman crosses the age of 35.
Another important argument in favor of oocyte cryopreservation is the aggressive treatment ahead. Chemotherapy, radiotherapy, treatment with cytostatics, hormones, these and other procedures lead to damage to the DNA of the egg and a high risk of fetal abnormalities.

Can frozen donor eggs be used in reproductive medicine?
Yes, they can and without restrictions. Cryopreservation does not in any way affect the quality of the oocyte: it does not change its genetic makeup, ability to divide normally, and other parameters. The medical literature describes a case when, after cryopreservation for 17 years, an absolutely healthy girl developed from an egg and was born.
This is due to the fact that egg freezing occurs in a matter of seconds: the cell is immersed in prepared liquid nitrogen. Important intracellular structures do not have time to be damaged, due to which the cell remains unchanged.
The practice of using cryopreserved oocytes is widespread throughout the world. Women become egg donors, donating from 4 to 10 cells per procedure, which are later independently distributed between participants in ICSI IVF protocols.
Frozen cells wait in the wings for years to later give new life and the happiness of parenting to those who are waiting for it.
