The IVF procedure is shrouded in many myths: from the huge number of complications associated with it, to the high risks of developing anomalies in the unborn child. Fortunately, modern medicine has made significant progress in improving the IVF procedure, and all prejudices can be safely left in the past.
Modern IVF protocols are completely safe for the mother and the unborn baby, and the pgd screening procedure will help to control the quality of embryos preparing for transfer.
This research method is patented and is widely used in countries with highly developed medicine: Israel, USA, Germany, etc. At MILITTA IVF Agency, pgd-diagnostics is the “gold standard” of work, due to which the success rate of IVF procedure exceeds 73% for all categories of patients.

PGD-screening of embryos: what is it
The IVF procedure includes many stages:
- stimulation of ovulation
- oocyte collection
- selection and introduction of the most viable spermatozoa
- cultivation of embryos
It is at the stage of embryo cultivation that the pgd study is carried out. During the study, the laboratory assistant assesses the state of the chromosomes of the embryo, fixes the presence of pathological alleles of genes using the NGS (Next-Gen Sequencing) method, studies the general morphology.
An important advantage of the pgd study is that the embryologist can determine the sex of the unborn baby. Parents do not have to wait 16-22 weeks of pregnancy to find out the sex of the child by ultrasound: the set of chromosomes in the cell will give an answer already on the 5th day after conceiving.
How PGD research is done
On the 5th day, from the moment of the beginning of active division of the egg, the embryologist extracts one cell from the morula (an egg in the phase of mitotic division). This does not harm the future embryo in any way and does not in any way affect the further quality of division.
The cell is placed in a buffering medium that maintains its viability and being prepared for various tests.
Most often performed:
- Microscopy: for the morphological assessment of chromosomes and other cell structures, to identify the spindle of division.
- NGS (Next-Gen Sequencing) -testing: to identify pathological alleles of genes and the likelihood of transmission of hereditary diseases
- PCR DNA: to detect abnormal nucleotides or point mutations
These are the most informative standard methods for assessing the quality of embryos that are used in our center.

Success rate with PGD screening
Timely early diagnostic assessment of embryos allows you to “reject” low-quality forms and preserve the most viable ones, without genetic diseases and even the desired sex.
As a result, after the transfer into the uterine cavity of the future woman in labor ( the examined, healthy surrogate mother), a high percentage of embryo implantation, the onset and maintenance of pregnancy is guaranteed.
It is thanks to high-precision pre-implantation diagnostics you have every chance of becoming happy parents of a healthy child.

Prices for PGD screening
The cost of pre-implantation diagnostics depends on the volume of the embryos being examined, the type of diagnostics chosen and a number of additional studies. You can clarify the full cost by calling.
